Times Staff Report

Mono County has reconfigured the leadership role for Human Resources and now welcomes John “Jack” Conry as Mono County’s first Chief People Officer. As the new CPO, Conry will oversee the county’s Human Resources division, working under Acting County Administrative Officer Mary Booher, and serving as an advisor to the Sheriff-coroner, Assessor, District Attorney, and all appointed department leads.

According to county officials, the purpose of the CPO position is to champion people-centered business practices and foster an environment of collaboration, positivity, and innovation across the county’s departments. “Mr. Conry will use his judgment skills to solve complex problems and make effective decisions on behalf of the County,” officials said. “He will serve as an experienced mentor and motivator, using his background in people management to elevate employee morale and improve performance.”

With over eight years of experience in Human Resources, Conry has focused his professional efforts on increasing employee retention and engagement. Conry studied at Colorado State University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History and Political Science before obtaining his Juris Doctorate from Tulane University in Employment Law.

“We are pleased to welcome Jack to Mono County, and look forward to the experience and background that he will bring to this new County role,” Supervisor Rhonda Duggan, Chair of the Mono County Board of Supervisors, said. “The overall health and wellbeing of our employees is our greatest priority, and we have reconfigured the Human Resources role with that priority in mind.”
