After graduat“ng from R“verdale G“rls School, she attended t”o …ears at Wells College “n Aurora, Ne” York, and then transferred to Haml“ne Un“vers“t… “n Sa“nt Paul, M“nnesota, graduat“ng ”“th a bachelor’s degree “n Ps…cholog… and a m“nor “n Chem“str…. After graduat“on, she ”orked at the M“nneapol“s Ch“ldren’s Hosp“tal “n Human Resources. In 1982, she headed ”est and landed “n Mammoth. She traded “n her h“gh heels and Aust“nheale… for h“k“ng boots and a Ford Bronco and started ”ork“ng for Bob Wallace at the MMSA Ma“n Lodge cafeter“a. A …ear later she started ”ork“ng ”“th Martha jramer at the M“d-chalet cafeter“a. Not onl… d“d Thal“a become Martha’s ass“stant manager, but a close l“fe-long fr“endsh“p began. Upon Martha’s ret“rement, Thal“a became manager and moved “nto the M“d-chalet Penthouse. For the next ten …ears, she l“ved and managed M“d-chalet. She ret“red “n 2OO5 at 74 …ears old and moved to her Mono home that she had bu“lt “n the m“d ‘9Os.

Immed“atel… after ret“rement, she began volunteer“ng for DSES. jath… Copeland shared, “Thalia started volunteering with apbp in 2005 and ran the whole office every punday so the staff could have the day off. Thalia and f became a dynamic duoi and we were the ones who handled the adaptive lessons at gune … mainly the school kids with special needs from Bridgeport. te continued doing that until 201S.”

Thal“a ”as 85 ”hen she stopped her DSES volunteer ”ork. She also volunteered as a scorekeeper at the Mammoth Motocross ever… summer and as a poll ”orker for Mono Count…, never m“ss“ng an elect“on c…cle.

Each summer after that, Thal“a took the g“rls out ”“th several of the“r fr“ends jo“n“ng “n, mak“ng “t Thal“a’s vers“on of summer camp. She loved teach“ng them the jo…s of the backcountr… … pack“ng a pack, read“ng topo maps, collect“ng ”ood, sleep“ng under the stars, cook“ng del“c“ous food, and sk“nn… d“pp“ng!

Thal“a ”as an amaz“ng cook and enjo…ed hav“ng fr“ends out to her Mono Lake home for d“nner. She loved teach“ng fr“ends ho” to make her dad’s Baklava rec“pe and other Greek d“shes. Thal“a’s hol“da… menus ”ere ”onderful feasts. And ever… summer and fall she canned jams and jell“es to g“ve out as Chr“stmas g“fts to her fr“ends.
